SEAM@InnoHK brings together global universities, research institutions, and industry partners to drive innovation in advanced manufacturing, energy, semiconductors, and sustainable technologies.
Hong Kong has strengthened its position as a global innovation and technology hub with the launch of SEAM@InnoHK, the third research cluster under the government’s flagship InnoHK initiative. Located at Hong Kong Science Park, the new platform focuses on emerging sectors including advanced manufacturing, sustainable energy, advanced materials, semiconductors, and space technologies.
The initiative builds on the success of Health@InnoHK and AIR@InnoHK, expanding Hong Kong’s research ecosystem and reinforcing its ambition to become an international center for scientific collaboration and technology commercialization.
SEAM@InnoHK brings together more than 30 leading universities and research institutions from around the world, including the University of Cambridge, EPFL, National University of Singapore, Tsinghua University, Peking University, and Nagoya University. The cluster also features participation from renowned Nobel Laureates such as Ben Feringa, Konstantin Novoselov, and Hiroshi Amano, highlighting Hong Kong’s ability to attract world-class scientific talent.
“The launch of SEAM@InnoHK reflects Hong Kong’s growing ability to bring together world-class researchers, institutions, and industry partners to transform breakthrough research into real-world innovations and economic value,” said Cordelia Chung, Chairman, Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP).
The research cluster comprises eight dedicated R&D centers focused on areas such as smart manufacturing, renewable energy, power semiconductors, intelligent energy grids, sustainable materials, and space manufacturing technologies. These sectors are expected to play a critical role in future economic growth and industrial transformation.
HKSTP will support the centers through access to research infrastructure, talent networks, funding opportunities, and industry partnerships, helping accelerate technology transfer and commercialization.
The launch demonstrates Hong Kong’s commitment to developing deep-tech capabilities, fostering international collaboration, and creating an innovation ecosystem that connects cutting-edge research with real-world industrial and societal applications.
