Colt Data Centre Services (Colt DCS) has appointed Fumi Takei as Vice President and Head of Japan, reinforcing the company’s commitment to expanding its presence in one of its most strategically important markets.
In the new role, Takei will lead Colt DCS’ growth strategy in Japan and oversee engagement with customers, partners, regulators, and industry stakeholders across the country’s rapidly evolving digital infrastructure ecosystem. The appointment comes as demand for hyperscale and AI-ready data centre infrastructure continues to rise globally.
Colt DCS currently operates 134MW of IT capacity in Japan, with an additional 200MW under development. The company said the role of Vice President and Head of Japan will be central to aligning local operations with Colt DCS’ broader global growth strategy, particularly as enterprises and hyperscalers increase investments in AI infrastructure and cloud services.

Quy Nguyen said the appointment comes at a pivotal time for the company as it continues to expand its data centre footprint in Japan. He noted that Japan remains a key pillar in Colt DCS’ global platform strategy, especially amid growing investments in infrastructure designed to support AI workloads and next-generation digital services.
Takei brings more than 18 years of experience across real estate investment, infrastructure, and capital markets. His professional background includes work with global investment firms and digital infrastructure platforms, giving him extensive expertise in managing complex international business environments.
Colt DCS said Takei’s leadership experience and industry knowledge will help support the company’s continued expansion plans in Japan while strengthening relationships with stakeholders across the region.
The company designs, builds, and operates data centres for hyperscalers and large enterprises globally. Its portfolio currently includes 15 operational data centres, with 12 additional facilities under development across nine cities in the UK, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific region.
Colt DCS has also positioned sustainability as a key component of its long-term strategy, with science-based targets aimed at reducing emissions in line with global net-zero standards.
