QuSecure Demonstrates Battlefield-Ready Quantum-Safe Security for U.S. Army

As governments and defense agencies worldwide prepare for the arrival of quantum computing, post-quantum cybersecurity specialist QuSecure has achieved a significant milestone by demonstrating the operational readiness of its quantum-resistant cryptography platform during the U.S. Army’s Project Convergence Capstone 6 (PCC6) exercises.

The California-based company announced that its flagship platform, QuProtect R3, successfully delivered post-quantum cryptography (PQC), cryptographic agility, and comprehensive cryptographic inventory capabilities for Army tactical mission systems during the large-scale military experimentation event held at Fort Irwin, California.

The achievement is particularly noteworthy as QuProtect R3 attained Technical Readiness Level 7 (TRL-7), a key benchmark indicating that a technology has been successfully demonstrated in operational conditions. The milestone positions the platform as ready for broader deployment across defense environments at a time when federal agencies are facing deadlines to transition to quantum-resistant security standards.

Project Convergence Capstone 6 is the U.S. Army’s premier experimentation exercise, bringing together thousands of soldiers, advanced technologies, and multinational partners to evaluate next-generation warfighting capabilities. Against this demanding backdrop, QuSecure’s platform was tested in real-world tactical scenarios rather than controlled laboratory environments.

Highlighting the significance of the deployment, Joey Lupo, Product Manager at QuSecure, said the event was the culmination of nearly two years of collaboration with the Army’s C5ISR organization. He noted that the exercise demonstrated not only protection against future quantum threats but also improvements in areas such as automation, cryptographic agility, and zero-trust security.

The timing is critical. Governments around the world are accelerating preparations for a future “Q-Day”, when quantum computers could potentially break many of today’s widely used encryption methods. Brian Cunningham, EVP of Growth and Strategy at QuSecure, said the successful PCC6 deployment shows that the Army is already operating with a “proven, deployable platform” well ahead of federal post-quantum migration deadlines.

QuProtect R3 enables organizations to discover cryptographic assets across networks, manage cryptographic policies from a centralized platform, and transition to new encryption algorithms without extensive application rewrites. The solution supports environments ranging from cloud and on-premises infrastructure to air-gapped and sovereign networks.

The PCC6 success marks an important step in QuSecure’s evolution from an Army-backed Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) project into a field-tested cybersecurity platform. More broadly, it highlights the growing urgency within the defense sector to modernize encryption and prepare critical systems for the post-quantum era.

With quantum-resistant security moving from theory to operational reality, QuSecure’s latest achievement positions the company among the early players helping government and defense organizations navigate one of cybersecurity’s most significant technology transitions.
