HackerOne Doubles Down on Asia-Pacific Expansion, Appoints Regional Leadership

APAC customers and partners will benefit from HackerOne’s regional focus and AI-augmented ethical hacking community

HackerOne announced the appointment of Simon Molenberg as Vice President of Sales, Asia Pacific (APAC) to lead the expansion of HackerOne’s presence and customer support for the region. Molenberg’s experience scaling businesses in APAC will help HackerOne meet strong regional demand and build a team to increase in-person strategic assistance for organisations seeking to reduce cybersecurity risk with AI-augmented human-powered security.

“Our security strategy must continue to evolve to match growing threats in Asia, particularly as retail remains a prime target for cybercriminals,” said Feliks Voskoboynik, CISO of HackerOne customer, A.S. Watson Group. “Ethical hackers have not only helped us find and fix the most impactful vulnerabilities faster, but their diversity of perspectives and impactful insights have helped train our internal security teams to increase protections in an intensifying threat landscape.”

HackerOne’s dedicated expansion comes as cyberattacks surge in APAC: the region accounted for the most cyberattacks globally (31%) in 2022. To increase their attack resistance, more than 50 major APAC organisations, including A.S. Watson Group, MINDEF Singapore, Lime, and Toyota, rely on HackerOne’s global ethical hacker community to provide AI-driven insights on the most novel and elusive vulnerabilities before cybercriminals exploit them. Over 5000 APAC-based hackers contribute to helping customers keep up with region-specific threats and improving their cybersecurity strategy. HackerOne also aids organisations in meeting growing regulatory requirements in the region through penetration testing and other services that help with compliance and establishing clear vulnerability reporting processes.

“The cybersecurity climate in APAC has shifted significantly in the past few years. Cyberattacks are booming thanks to rapid technological change, including the emergence of generative AI. To keep up, organisations need comprehensive and strategic solutions that scale as threats evolve,” said Simon Molenberg, VP of Sales, APAC at HackerOne. “I look forward to growing our team, partners, and customer base in APAC, optimising the engagement of the ethical hacker community, and addressing escalating region-specific cybersecurity challenges.”

Molenberg also brings more than 30 years of experience successfully scaling APAC sales and go-to-market strategy. Molenberg will focus on growing the regional sales team and business operations. Before HackerOne, Molenberg served as Area VP of Sales at DataStax, where he established the company’s regional sales footprint to grow significant market share growth. Molenberg also pioneered Apigee’s successful expansion into APAC before the company’s acquisition by Google in 2016.

“We are excited to be expanding our APAC operations and go-to-market efforts with the hiring of Simon,” said Dean Hickman-Smith, Chief Revenue Officer at HackerOne. “Simon’s experience makes him well-equipped to really scale our partner and customer-facing efforts. I’m looking forward to triple-digit growth and continued expansion across the region over the coming years.”
