Flipkart Launches Fulfilment Centre in Telangana

Flipkart has launched its largest, automated fulfilment centre in Hyderabad. The fulfilment centre was inaugurated by Sri Etala Rajender – Minister for Finance and Civil Supplies, Telangana.

With the launch of the new facility, the 17th in the country by Flipkart, the company is driving more innovation in the area of logistics through advanced technologies.

Spread across 220,000 sq. ft., this new centre holds a massive storage capacity of 589,000 cubic ft. The vision of the newly installed facility is to address critical supply chain challenges arising from the ever-increasing consumer demands in the ecommerce space in Hyderabad and its surrounding areas.
Located in Gundlapochampally within the city of Secunderabad, the centre will have automated sorters, with the ability to separate shipments based on pin codes. Weight and volumetric measurement systems (VMS) are also installed to ensure accuracy and a tight check on quality, while handling the surge in demand volumes. One of the key feature, specific to this facility is the 1 km long conveyer belt that has been uniquely designed to reduce motion wastage by 75 percentage. Once implemented, this would become a standard that Flipkart plans to adopt across warehouses in high density regions across India.

Commenting on the launch, Binny Bansal, COO & Co-founder, Flipkart, said, “Flipkart is investing in fortifying logistical abilities by leveraging capabilities such as automation and many innovative devices. We, along with our partners in the ecosystem are in continuous efforts to firm up our technological backend to deliver the promise of customer delight at every step—Flipkart’s core focus.
He further added, “With the addition of this fulfillment centre, we are more confident on offering consumers across the nation, a hassle free and reliable online shopping experience, even offline on the delivery front.”
