Move set to bolster Vertiv’s leadership in AI-ready integrated infrastructure solutions
Vertiv (NYSE: VRT), a global provider of critical digital infrastructure, has announced an agreement to acquire Great Lakes Data Racks & Cabinets (Great Lakes) for $200 million. The acquisition is designed to strengthen Vertiv’s portfolio of integrated, AI-ready rack solutions optimized for enterprise, edge, colocation, and hyperscale computing markets.
Founded in 1985 and headquartered in Edinboro, Pennsylvania, Great Lakes specializes in custom and standard racks, integrated cabinets, seismic solutions, and advanced cable management systems, with operations in both the U.S. and Europe. The company is known for delivering highly engineered, tailored infrastructure to support both retrofit and greenfield data center projects.
“Great Lakes is a leading rack manufacturer with an extensive portfolio of high-end solutions and innovation capabilities that are essential in an increasingly demanding high-density AI infrastructure environment,” said Gio Albertazzi, CEO at Vertiv.
Vertiv said the acquisition will allow it to expand its end-to-end critical infrastructure offerings by integrating Great Lakes’ expertise with Vertiv’s global power and cooling solutions. This combination is expected to provide customers with consolidated sourcing, faster deployment of pre-engineered systems, improved scalability for AI-driven workloads, and stronger global service support.
The purchase price represents approximately 11.5x expected 2026 EBITDA, factoring in cost synergies and cross-selling opportunities. The deal is subject to customary closing conditions, including regulatory approvals, and is expected to close in Q3 2025.
