Wockhardt Hospitals Deploys Qlik’s Data Discovery Solution

Utilises data insights from Qlik to drive greater efficiencies in business performance and cost management practices, gain data insights and drive competitive edge

Qlik, a leader in visual analytics, announced that Wockhardt Hospitals, has selected Qlik’s proven, market-leading data discovery solution, to gain better data insights and improve business performance while reducing operational costs.

Wockhardt, the parent company, is India’s 5th largest Pharmaceutical and Healthcare company with a presence in 20 countries across the globe. In India, they provide tertiary care, super specialty healthcare networks offering healthcare services. They operate nine hospitals in India with a total staff strength of over 2500+ employees.
The project was won by Qlik in a competitive bid where the company outclassed their competition with a superior Proof of Concept (PoC) set up by Qlik’s expertise partner, Exponentia DataLabs. Post a highly detailed evaluation process, Wockhardt were content with Qlik based on their internal user assessment given their need for guided analytics and the maturity of the Qlik products.

Zahabiya Khorakiwala, Managing Director, Wockhardt Hospitals said, “Healthcare organisations need to leverage their data to drive greater efficiencies in healthcare delivery. At Wockhardt, we believe that implementation and utilisation of modern and agile Business Intelligence (BI) and analytics will result in better decision-making across all areas of our organisation. We explored different solutions in the market but were convinced that Qlik delivered the best outcomes – a platform that provided transparency, was easy to use, agile and scalable.”
The data for the project came from disparate sources such as an existing Hospital Information System (HIS), an SAP financial module and a huge volume of excel spreadsheets. Subsequently, the output was used to generate strategic insights and analysis for the management, to evaluate revenue analysis and cost optimization measures, MIS for the finance team, pricing analysis and cost audits for related finance functions.

Souma Das, Managing Director, Qlik India said, “Healthcare system in India is complex. Investment in healthcare is still inadequate for a country such as India. Technology can aid healthcare providers to deliver more affordable healthcare. Data generated in the healthcare sector is growing at an exponential scale and it is imperative that healthcare organizations implement a business intelligence system that can leverage this data, is user-centric and provides the ability to provide quick access, analysis and dissemination of information. Data Analytics can enable healthcare organizations to deliver better patient care while driving optimal operational efficiencies and growth.”
