Vodafone to Completely Cover Mumbai Under its 4G Umbrella by End of March

Expands its HSI network to Thane and Kalyan with plans to complete roll-out across Mumbai region by March 31st

With the Digital India campaign in full flow and surge in next generation 4G enabled Smartphones, Vodafone India has expanded its high 4G network reach in Mumbai to the residential and business corridors of Thane and Kalyan district. After complete installations across Kerala, Karnataka, Kolkata and Delhi & NCR, Vodafone projects the roll-out will be completed across all parts of Mumbai including the Eastern suburbs & New Mumbai license areas by end March 2016; having initiated the process on February 10th.

High speed internet has been widely accepted across the country as pivotal to progress in this age of ICT. With communication device manufactures rolling out new 4G enabled devices, and due support from the central government, domestic telecom providers have been extensively leveraging resources in order to install 4G enabled equipment across their national networks.

As per the press release, Vodafone will be offering free upgrade apart from exclusive benefits in order to help its existing customers transfer their devices to the new 4G network. It also said, Vodafone will be the first telecom service provider to currently offer international roaming on 4G to its India customers visiting countries like Ireland, New Zealand, Czech Republic, Greece, South Africa, Albania, Hungary, Italy, Portugal, UK, Germany, Romania, Spain and Netherlands, leveraging its global network and experience. Benefits would include doorstep postpaid services, complimentary Vodafone Play subscriptions, array of data packs in all price ranges,

According to the press release, Mumbai is a focus and significant growth market for Vodafone India with the company already having large retail footprint in the city. To cater to the growing volumes of customer usage increasing need for speed, the company has invested over Rs.1000 Cr in FY16 to expand, modernize and building a more technology and energy efficient network.

Announcing the expansion of Vodafone’s 4G services in Thane and Kalyan district, Ishmeet Singh, Business Head –Mumbai, Vodafone India said, “Mumbai is a strong leadership market for Vodafone India with data contributing around 30% of total revenues. We are delighted to bring our 4G services to Thane and Kalyan districts of Mumbai which constitute over 20% of our customer base. 4G has the potential to revolutionize the mobile experience through powerful innovation that impacts how we work and live. With this launch, majority of Mumbai is covered with 4G and we will soon expand it to Eastern suburbs and Navi Mumbai areas to complete roll-out by end March 2016.
