Tata Elxsi Associates with Thomson Video Networks

Together they launch interoperable Ultra HD HEVC Solutions

Tata Elxsi and Thomson Video Networks have announced an interoperable HEVC (H.265) Ultra HD solution. Thomson Video Networks’ ViBE VS7000 multi-screen encoding or transcoding platform and Tata Elxsi’s Ultra HD HEVC decoder have been tested and proven for interoperability, announced the release.

This interoperability ensures that Tata Elxsi’s Ultra HD HEVC decoder enables customers to build end-to-end workflows for adoption using the Thomson Video Networks product. Adding newer implementation on ARM Cortex-A15 platforms in addition to the x86 solutions, announced last year, Tata Elxsi has broadened the platform availability of the HEVC decoder. This enables embedded products using ARM cores to be armed with HEVC technology.

Saravanan T S, Media Product Manager, Tata Elxsi, said, “Tata Elxsi continues its commitment to provide its customers with reliable implementations, helping customers integrate, accelerate and innovate on their products and core competencies.”

Thomson Video Networks offers advanced video-compression products that help media companies, video service providers and broadcasters deliver superior video quality at the lowest-possible bandwidth for contribution, terrestrial, satellite, cable, IPTV and OTT services.

Claude Perron, CTO, Thomson Video Networks, said, “It is critically important that we quickly validate interoperability with OEM suppliers for set-top box manufacturers, so that we can ensure our technology will be compatible with future set-top boxes. Tata Elxsi is known worldwide as a powerhouse of innovation, so interoperability with its solutions was a high priority for us. We’ve very proud to be associated with Tata Elxsi and its contributions to the industry.”
