New HP Chromebook Powers Meaningful Cloud Experiences for Hybrid Work Environments

Today, HP introduced its newest Chromebook to help people stay connected, engaged, and productive, wherever their work takes them.

There has been a radical shift in the way work forces are distributed. Thirty-two percent of office employees expect to work from home in the foreseeable future and 26% expect to split their time between home and office.[i] Additionally, 40% of IT professionals struggle with device procurement and management in this hybrid environment.[ii]

“Now more than ever, business users and the IT teams that support them want devices that are secure, easy to manage, and powerful enough for today’s multitasking and conferencing needs,” said Maulik Pandya, Vice President and General Manager of Cloud Client Group, HP Inc. “Our newest Chromebook is purpose-built to help people get work done, delivering productive and collaborative experiences for working around the home, in the office, or on-the-go.”

Whether at home or in the office, users can multi-task across numerous web apps on multiple displays while video conferencing at the same time. They can stay productive without worrying about recharging during the work day with up to 12.5 hours of battery life,[v] and can get up to 90% battery life in just 90 minutes with HP Fast Charge when more power is needed.[vi] The HP Pro c640 G2 Chromebook Enterprise includes the Chrome Enterprise Upgrade[vii] for simplified management and enhanced security for users and IT.

The newest HP Chromebook also features:

  • A sleek, beautiful design that lasts. Experience rich visuals with 14-inch diagonal HD or optional FHD display,[viii] and interact with content on an optional touchscreen.[ix] Get work done anywhere with a lightweight device that is less than 16.5 mm thin at the hinges, while enjoying a refined aluminum design. Built to last, the device can withstand a variety of harsh environmental conditions and be sanitised with common household cleaning wipes;[x] the keyboard is spill-resistant up to 11.8 oz (350 ml).[xi]
  • Superb video and audio experiences. Collaborate virtually with colleagues and friends using the front-facing HD camera with an 88-degree viewing angle, coupled with dual microphones. Top-firing HP speakers, custom-tuned in collaboration with experts at Bang & Olufsen, deliver authentic and clear sound when on a conference call or watching a movie.

  • Enterprise-grade security and manageability. Keep device and user data secure with Chrome OS auto updates,[xviii] built-in anti-virus protection,[xix] HP Privacy Camera, and optional fingerprint sensors.[xx]

“Powered by the 11th Gen Intel Core processors with Intel Iris Xe graphics, HP’s Pro 640 G2 Chromebook Enterprise empowers people to take on their workdays and experience rich media and visuals for the best collaboration, productivity, and creation experiences,” said Josh Newman, Vice President, Client Computing Group, General Manager, Mobile Innovation, Intel. “Our 11th Gen Intel Core processors also deliver the performance needed to enable seamless multi-tasking across apps, and integrated Intel Wi-Fi 6 (Gig+) offers best-in-class connectivity that is critical for remote work.”

[iii] Multi-Core is designed to improve performance of certain software products. Not all customers or software applications will necessarily benefit from use of this technology. Performance and clock frequency will vary depending on application workload and your hardware and software configurations. Intel’s numbering, branding and/or naming is not a measurement of higher performance.

[iv] Intel® Iris® Xe graphics capabilities require system to be configured with Intel® Core™ i5 or i7 processors and dual channel memory. Intel® Iris® Xe graphics with Intel® Core™ i5 or 7 processors and single channel memory will only function as UHD graphics.

[v] Testing conducted by HP using Google Chrome OS power_LoadTest. Battery life will vary and the maximum capacity of the battery will naturally decrease with time and usage and battery optimization activation. See http://www.chromium.org/chromium-os/testing/power-testing for test details. Battery configuration and charge capacity is optimized to improve battery health over time based upon charging patterns and temperature.

[vi] Recharges the battery up to 90% within 90 minutes when the system is off or in standby mode, when used with the power adapter provided with the notebook, and no external devices are connected. After charging has reached 90% capacity, charging speed will return to normal. Charging time may vary +/-10% due to System tolerance.

[vii] Single Chrome Enterprise Upgrade included. Requires one-time setup. Please see https://support.google.com/a/topic/1409901

[viii] Full HD is an optional feature that must be configured at the time of purchase.

[ix] Optional feature that must be configured at the time of purchase.

[x] The keyboards, chassis, and ports of the HP Pro c640 G2 Chromebook Enterprise have been tested to 1,000 wipes to be cleaned with Windex® Original Glass & Surface Wipes and Clorox® Disinfecting Wipes with EPA Registration Number 5813-79. Do not use wipes on other surfaces of the product. See user guide for cleaning instructions.

[xi] HP Total Test Process testing is not a guarantee of future performance under these test conditions. Any accidental damage requires an optional HP Accidental Damage Protection Care Pack.

[xii] Wi-Fi 6 is designed to support gigabit data rate when transferring files between two devices connected to the same router. Requires a wireless router, sold separately, that supports 80MHz and higher channels.

[xiii] Wireless access point and Internet service required and sold separately. Availability of public wireless access points limited. Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) is backwards compatible with prior 802.11 specs. The specifications for Wi-Fi 6 are draft specifications and are not final. If the final specifications differ from the draft specifications, it may affect the ability of the notebook to communicate with other 802.11ax WLAN devices. Only available in countries where 802.11ax is supported.

[xiv] Based on internal testing of products with and without HP Extended Range Wireless LAN.

[xv] Optional feature that must be configured at the time of purchase.

[xvi] Up to 256GB is an optional feature that must be configured at purchase. For storage drives, GB = 1 billion bytes. Actual formatted capacity is less. Up to 8.1 GB is not user accessible.
