Honeywell Unveils AI-Enabled Technology to Personalize In-Store Shopping with Google Cloud

— Jose Gomes, VP, Retail & Consumer Packaged Goods, Google Cloud

Honeywell today announced the launch of its Smart Shopping Platform, an AI-powered retail solution developed in collaboration with Google Cloud and 66degrees. Leveraging Google’s Gemini and Vertex AI technologies, the platform aims to transform brick-and-mortar shopping by delivering personalized guidance and seamless navigation inside stores.

The Smart Shopping Platform addresses common shopper frustrations—such as locating hard-to-find items or finding substitutes for out-of-stock products—by creating a connected experience that mirrors the convenience of e-commerce. “There is nothing more frustrating than roaming through a store unable to find the last item on your grocery list,” said David Barker, President, Honeywell Productivity Solutions and Services. “This solution creates a better experience for shoppers while giving retailers an out-of-the-box AI tool without the need for in-house AI expertise.”

“The Smart Shopping Platform turns Honeywell devices into intelligent companions for shoppers and staff.”

How It Works

Built on Honeywell’s Mobility Edge hardware and software platform, the solution integrates Google Cloud’s AI to deliver:

  • Personalized Recommendations: Shoppers can link loyalty accounts for tailored suggestions based on purchase history and preferences.
  • Dynamic Navigation: Step-by-step guidance to locate products quickly.
  • Smart Substitutions: AI-driven alternatives when items are unavailable.

Retail associates also benefit from real-time insights. Equipped with Honeywell devices like the CT70, staff can provide instant product guidance, making every employee a subject matter expert.

Retail Impact

By combining AI with specialized hardware, the platform enhances operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. “This collaboration streamlines in-store operations and builds deeper customer loyalty,” said Jose Gomes, Google Cloud.

The Smart Shopping Platform will be available globally starting February 2026, marking a significant milestone in Honeywell’s ongoing partnership with Google Cloud to advance AI-driven retail innovation.
