Global IT Industry Sees Major Executive Shake-ups in 2025

Global IT

Intel, Apple, Meta, and other tech giants announce strategic leadership changes to accelerate AI, financial growth, and market innovation.

The global IT landscape is undergoing a major leadership overhaul in 2025 as several industry giants appoint new executives to lead innovation, streamline operations, and strengthen digital strategies.

At Intel, new CEO Lip-Bu Tan has initiated sweeping changes, streamlining the organization by having key divisions—including data center and AI—report directly to him. Sachin Katti has been named Chief Technology and AI Officer, tasked with steering the company’s AI roadmap and research efforts.

In another high-profile move, Apple appointed Kevan Parekh as its new Chief Financial Officer, replacing longtime CFO Luca Maestri, who will continue with the company in a strategic advisory role. Parekh’s elevation comes as Apple pushes forward with AI-driven features in its iPhone ecosystem.

Social media behemoth Meta expanded its board by welcoming Dina Powell McCormick, a banking executive and former government official, and Stripe CEO Patrick Collison. The move is seen as a bid to deepen Meta’s focus on global business and small enterprise engagement.

On the European front, Google has named Debbie Weinstein as President of its EMEA operations, a recognition of her strong leadership in the UK and Ireland. She’s being hailed as one of the most powerful women in European tech.

Meanwhile, Nokia announced Justin Hotard, formerly of Intel, as its new CEO, signaling a push toward more AI-focused telecom strategies.

Japan’s Sony also realigned its leadership: Hiroki Totoki took over as CEO, while Lin Tao became the company’s first female CFO. The PlayStation business will now be overseen by Hideaki Nishino and Hermen Hulst, aiming for greater efficiency and cost control.

In the IT services space, GlobalLogic named Srini Shankar as its new CEO, with Nitesh Banga moving to Virtusa Corporation as President and CEO. The leadership transitions reflect a growing emphasis on agility and digital transformation.

Additionally, Boeing appointed former Pentagon CIO Dana Deasy as its Chief Information Digital Officer, highlighting the aerospace giant’s push into secure and intelligent data systems.
