Fortinet has expanded its FortiGate G series portfolio with the launch of the new FortiGate 3500G and FortiGate 400G firewalls, aimed at helping enterprises secure AI-driven workloads, encrypted traffic, and distributed hybrid environments without compromising performance.
Announced in Bengaluru, the new platforms are powered by Fortinet’s proprietary NP7 and SP5 processors and the FortiOS operating system, combining advanced threat protection, AI-powered intelligence, and hardware-enforced security capabilities. The company said the latest additions are designed to support organizations modernizing their infrastructure for AI adoption and increasingly complex enterprise networks.
According to Ken Xie, enterprises require security platforms that can scale with modern workloads while reducing operational complexity. He noted that the expanded FortiGate G series is intended to simplify security architectures and strengthen protection from data centers to enterprise edges.
“Organizations modernizing their infrastructures for AI-driven workloads and increasingly distributed environments need security platforms that can deliver both performance and protection at scale.” — Ken Xie
The FortiGate 3500G is designed for high-performance data center environments, offering 400Gb connectivity, advanced ASIC acceleration, and hardware-level validation for enhanced trust and transparency. Fortinet said the platform is built to handle growing east-west traffic, zero-trust requirements, and AI workloads without creating network bottlenecks.
Meanwhile, the FortiGate 400G focuses on enterprise edge modernization, enabling organizations to deploy high-density traffic segmentation and advanced security services with predictable performance. The company emphasized that the platform provides a simplified upgrade path for existing FortiGate users while ensuring operational consistency across distributed infrastructures.
The new FortiGate models also introduce native shadow AI detection, allowing organizations to identify and monitor unsanctioned AI application usage in real time. Integrated FortiGuard AI-powered Security Services continuously analyze and prioritize threats using machine learning and updated threat intelligence.
Fortinet said the expanded G series forms part of its broader Security Fabric strategy, which integrates FortiOS, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, and FortiGuard Labs intelligence into a unified cybersecurity platform. The approach is aimed at reducing tool sprawl, improving visibility, and accelerating threat response across hybrid enterprise environments.
