Leostream Brings Greater Flexibility to AWS Virtual Desktops with WorkSpaces Core Support

“This integration unlocks the full potential of desktop virtualization in the cloud.” – Karen Gondoly, CEO, Leostream

Integration enables enterprises to deliver multi-OS, GPU-intensive, and cost-optimized virtual desktops in the cloud.

Leostream has announced new support for Amazon WorkSpaces Core Managed Instances, expanding its Remote Desktop Access Platform to give enterprises more flexibility and control over virtual desktop deployments in the AWS cloud. The integration allows organizations to mix operating systems, manage GPU-intensive workloads, and streamline cost optimization, all within their own AWS accounts.

With this move, AWS customers can deliver pooled, persistent, or non-persistent desktops across Windows, Linux, and macOS platforms. IT teams can now tailor virtual desktop experiences to match diverse user requirements — from task-based workloads to multi-user sessions and graphics-heavy applications.

A major benefit is Leostream’s ability to manage both Amazon EC2 instances and WorkSpaces Core Managed Instances in one orchestration layer. This unified approach allows administrators to balance performance and scalability across compute, memory, and graphics instances globally, while leveraging provisioning and power management tools to automatically reduce idle capacity and avoid over-provisioning.

The integration also deepens Leostream’s support for Amazon DCV, AWS’s high-performance display protocol, which delivers secure, low-latency access to demanding applications such as engineering simulations, media production, and scientific research. For modern productivity, organizations can deliver Microsoft 365 Apps for Enterprise on WorkSpaces Core with the same scalability and cost-control benefits.

Enterprises can further bring their own Windows 11 licenses to the platform, ensuring a modern desktop experience while maintaining control of compliance and licensing.

Karen Gondoly, CEO of Leostream, said the update significantly elevates desktop virtualization on AWS:

“Using the Leostream platform with Amazon WorkSpaces Core Managed Instances delivers an unrivaled mix of flexibility, performance, and cost control for VDI on AWS. You can choose your own adventure with the right operating system, protocol, and instance type for every user, rein in EC2 costs, provision cloud GPUs for the users that need them, and manage it all in your own AWS account.”

With over 20 years of innovation in remote desktop access, Leostream continues to position its platform as a secure, scalable, and cost-efficient solution for enterprises across industries — from finance and government to healthcare, energy, and media.
