New wall-mount design combines enterprise-class connectivity with cloud-managed simplicity

NETGEAR has unveiled the WAX610W, its most compact Wi-Fi 6 access point to date, engineered specifically for hospitality venues, multi-dwelling units (MDUs), and education environments where performance, reliability, and aesthetics are equally critical.

Delivering up to 1.8 Gbps throughput across dual bands, the WAX610W supports seamless roaming, enterprise-grade security, and centralized management via the NETGEAR Insight cloud platform. Designed with flexibility in mind, it features one Gigabit PoE-In port for both uplink and power, alongside four Gigabit LAN ports for directly connecting devices such as IP phones, projectors, and smart TVs — making it an ideal fit for guest rooms, classrooms, and shared living spaces.

“Residential customers demand solutions that are reliable, yet unobtrusive. The WAX610W access point—our smallest yet—blends seamlessly into its environment with an easily installed mount, while delivering enterprise-grade performance.”

— Nat Chidambaram, Senior Director, Product Management, NETGEAR

The wall-mountable, slim-profile access point blends into any interior without sacrificing coverage. Its omnidirectional antenna design ensures consistent connectivity in high-density environments, while bidirectional MU-MIMO and OFDMA technologies enhance streaming, downloads, and application responsiveness.

The WAX610W’s captive portal support enables businesses to deploy branded guest WiFi experiences, a critical feature for hotels and MDUs seeking to improve customer satisfaction. For IT teams, the solution allows segmentation of traffic across admin, guest, staff, and IoT devices, ensuring secure and efficient management.

Security is at the core of the WAX610W, with WPA2/WPA3 Enterprise and Personal protocols, OWE for open networks, and support for up to eight SSIDs per unit. This ensures compliance with modern data security requirements and reduces support challenges associated with shared environments.

“The WAX610W combines compact design, simplified deployment, and powerful WiFi 6 performance, meeting the growing demands of hospitality and educational settings,” said Nat Chidambaram.

The device integrates seamlessly with other NETGEAR Insight Managed Access Points and supports Instant Mesh networking, making it easy to extend coverage across large facilities. With a five-year warranty and next-business-day replacement, NETGEAR continues to position itself as a trusted networking partner for businesses.

The WAX610W is available now through NETGEAR’s authorized partners and resellers.
