Indigenously built surveillance drone to boost law enforcement, training, and India’s growing UAV ecosystem
Marut Drones, India’s first drone company with dual certification for training and manufacturing, today announced that its Skyswift 56 surveillance drone has received DGCA type certification.
The small-category quadcopter-class rotorcraft has been designed for tactical surveillance, high-precision mapping, and field training. Supporting multiple payloads — from an FPV camera and 24MP mapping camera with PPK support to a 4K surveillance lens and thermal imaging — Skyswift 56 is tailored for operations demanding precision, discretion, and rapid deployment.
According to Marut, the drone can be deployed in under two minutes, fits into a rugged backpack, and operates in low-visibility missions. Its shock-absorbent, weather-resistant design allows speeds up to 15 m/s, making it highly effective for law enforcement, covert reconnaissance, and rapid response scenarios.
“Skyswift 56 is built to empower frontline personnel with silent, compact, and high-precision surveillance tools — crucial for national security and public safety.”

“At a time when national security concerns are prompting deeper investments in tactical drone surveillance, Marut’s Skyswift 56 emerges as a timely solution,” said Prem Kumar Vislawath, CEO & Co-Founder, Marut Drones.
Boosting India’s UAV ecosystem
Beyond tactical advantages, Skyswift 56 is expected to support India’s push for 1 lakh+ skilled drone pilots. With the country’s drone economy projected to grow from USD 150 million today to over USD 630 million by 2030, certified platforms like Skyswift 56 will play a vital role in upskilling talent and strengthening drone adoption across industries.
Currently, over 1 lakh drones are in operation in India, a number expected to rise to 1 million by 2027. Marut estimates this could create ₹6000 crore worth of employment, as skilled pilots earn between ₹50,000 – ₹80,000 per month.
With this certification, Marut reinforces its leadership in indigenous drone manufacturing, enabling India to build a self-reliant UAV ecosystem for security, agriculture, logistics, healthcare, and beyond.
