In Test Comparing Eight Leading Firewall Vendors, Versa Earned a Recommended Rating and Four Top ‘AAA’ Ratings, Delivering the Highest Rated Throughput and the Lowest Price per Protected Mbps

Versa Networks, the recognized leader of single-vendor Unified Secure Access Service Edge (SASE), today announced that the Versa Networks CSG5000 Next Generation Firewall received a Recommended rating by CyberRatings.org, including a 99.48% security effectiveness score and top ‘AAA’ ratings across all four scoring categories. ‘AAA’ is the highest rating assigned by CyberRatings.

The CyberRatings Enterprise Firewall Comparative Security Value Map report provides an analysis of eight leading next-generation firewall vendors, including Check Point, Cisco, Forcepoint, Fortinet, Juniper Networks, Palo Alto Networks, Sangfor, and Versa Networks. The test regimen compared routing and access control, SSL / TLS functionality, threat prevention, and stability and reliability to reach a combined security effectiveness score.

Security Effectiveness

Security effectiveness tests measured how well the enterprise firewall controlled the network access, applications, and users while preventing exploits and evasions. Versa scored 99.48% in terms of security effectiveness based on the following functional ratings:

  • Routing & Access Control:  100%
  • SSL/TLS Functionality:  100%
  • Threat Prevention – Exploits:  99.48%
  • Threat Prevention – Evasions:  100%
  • Stability & Reliability:  100%

Performance

These tests measured the performance of the enterprise firewall under various adverse conditions in terms of maximum connections and transactions per second, concurrency, throughput, and latency. Key performance results for Versa included:

  • Highest Rated Throughput – 12,160 Mbps.
  • Highest UDP Throughput for UDP packets 1024 bytes or larger.
  • Highest TCP Connections per Second – 150,000+.
  • Highest Rated HTTPS Capacity – Versa delivered the highest HTTPS capacity across all combinations of packet size, connections per second, and SSL/TLS algorithms.

Price and Value

CyberRatings compared the total cost for each firewall for 3 years to each product’s Rated Throughput to calculate a price per Mbps. Versa delivered the best value in the Enterprise Firewall test:

  • Lowest Price per Mbps – $2.54.
  • Lowest Price per Protected Mbps – $2.55.
