NETSCOUT Doubles Arbor Cloud Capacity to Strengthen Defenses Against AI-Driven DDoS Attacks

Expanded 33 Tbps mitigation capacity helps enterprises and critical infrastructure operators defend against increasingly sophisticated, internet-scale cyberattacks

NETSCOUT has announced a major expansion of its cloud-based DDoS protection capabilities, doubling the mitigation capacity of its Arbor Cloud platform to 33 Tbps as organizations face growing threats from AI-enabled and increasingly sophisticated distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks.

The investment is aimed at strengthening operational resilience for enterprises, service providers, and critical infrastructure operators by ensuring uninterrupted availability of digital services, protecting revenue-generating operations, and supporting the demands of AI-driven businesses.

The expansion follows NETSCOUT’s recent acquisition of additional DDoS network and infrastructure assets, further reinforcing its ability to deliver large-scale cloud-based mitigation services globally. According to the company, the enhanced capacity spans 16 global scrubbing centers, enabling customers to defend against larger and more complex attacks while maintaining consistent protection across multiple attack vectors.

NETSCOUT noted that the DDoS threat landscape continues to evolve rapidly. Multi-vector attacks have become increasingly common, while the emergence of large botnets such as Aisuru and Kimwolf has driven attack volumes to unprecedented levels, with some incidents approaching or exceeding 30 Tbps. At the same time, attackers are launching simultaneous and short-duration attacks that require organizations to respond faster than ever before.

Unlike mitigation services that primarily add bandwidth, Arbor Cloud combines large-scale mitigation capabilities with global threat intelligence generated from NETSCOUT’s visibility into internet traffic and attack activity. The platform is designed to absorb large volumetric attacks while providing intelligent mitigation against more sophisticated threats.

The enhanced infrastructure offers several benefits, including increased mitigation capacity for large-scale attacks, improved protection against multiple simultaneous threats, faster stabilization of services following attack spikes, and greater operational confidence for sectors such as financial services, healthcare, retail, and government.

Arbor Cloud forms part of NETSCOUT’s broader multi-layered DDoS defense strategy, which integrates on-premises protection with cloud-based traffic scrubbing through automated mitigation workflows. The service is backed by a 24×7 Security Operations Center staffed by NETSCOUT DDoS specialists.

The company expects the capacity expansion to be fully completed by the end of August 2026.
