Orient Electric, a trusted household name and part of the legacy CKA Birla Group, has taken a decisive step toward deep digital transformation with the appointment of Naveen Sharma as Head of IT. Backed by years of enterprise technology leadership, Sharma is poised to accelerate Orient Electric’s transition from a traditional consumer appliances brand into a tech-first, innovation-driven powerhouse.

Speaking about his new role, Sharma emphasized a clear vision: strengthening the company’s digital backbone by embedding resilience, agility, and operational excellence into every layer of technology. “Orient is evolving rapidly. My focus is on designing a future-ready IT ecosystem that not only supports the business but multiplies its value,” he noted.

At the heart of his strategy lies an extensive transformation blueprint titled “Roadmap 2026 & Beyond,” which outlines four major technology pillars that will shape Orient Electric’s next growth phase.

The first pillar—Composable ERP Architecture—marks a shift from rigid monolithic systems to flexible, modular applications that can expand with business needs. This approach is expected to increase integration velocity and reduce dependency on legacy workflows.

The second focus area is Industry 4.0, where Sharma aims to bring real-time intelligence to Orient’s manufacturing units. IIoT-driven predictive maintenance and smart automation will enhance uptime and improve product quality across factories.

The roadmap also highlights Edge-to-Cloud Integration, intended to power Orient’s growing portfolio of smart products. By leveraging low-latency edge computing, the company aims to deliver faster responses, improved device connectivity, and enriched user experiences.

Rounding out the framework is Cyber-Physical Security, with a bold push toward Zero-Trust architectures to safeguard the organisation’s expanding digital footprint, particularly as IoT deployments scale.

Sharma believes this transformation will reposition IT from a support function to a strategic business enabler. “The goal is simple,” he said. “We want to turn technology into a value multiplier and redefine what’s possible in the FMEG sector.”

With this vision now in motion, all eyes are on Orient Electric as it accelerates toward a digitally empowered future.
