MongoDB Recognized as the “Challenger” by Gartner

The company has been recognized for two consecutive years for its “ability to execute” and “completeness of vision.”

Out of 25 vendors evaluated by Gartner for the “Challengers” quadrant of the 2014 Magic Quadrant for Operational Database Management Systems report, MongoDB has been named as the lone company. The company has been recognized for two consecutive years for its “ability to execute” and “completeness of vision.”

“Enterprises are increasingly turning to MongoDB to build new data-driven applications that are transforming businesses and driving new revenue opportunities,” said DevIttycheria, President and CEO of MongoDB. “We feel MongoDB’s move into Gartner’s challengers quadrant is a testament to the new product features, customer service and tools that our team has developed over the past year for creating applications never before possible.”

As per the release, more than 1,000 customers, from startups to enterprise organizations, rely on MongoDB to build applications never before possible. MongoDB is the fastest-growing community in Big Data, with a large user base and meteoric trajectory position. Recently, major enhancements were announced for the company’s popular cloud service, MongoDB Management Service (MMS). MMS dramatically simplifies operations for MongoDB deployments of any size, reducing operational overhead by 95 percent for many operations.

Gartner defines the operational DBMS market by relational and non-relational database management products that are suitable for a broad range of enterprise-level, transactional applications. The Gartner Operational Database Management Systems Magic Quadrant evaluated 25 different vendors on 15 criteria.
