Collaboration to power AI-driven scale, personalization, and conversational commerce across India
Meesho and Google Cloud have announced a strategic partnership aimed at building a high-performance digital foundation to support the e-commerce platform’s next phase of growth. The collaboration will enable Meesho to leverage Google Cloud’s integrated infrastructure, data, and AI capabilities to serve its rapidly expanding ecosystem of 961,000 sellers and 264 million users across India.
As part of the partnership, Meesho will transition to Google Cloud’s unified stack, improving speed, scalability, and operational agility. The move is designed to support the company’s ambition to deliver seamless, personalized, and reliable shopping experiences for users across diverse geographies, devices, and connectivity environments.
A key highlight of this transformation is the rollout of Vaani, Meesho’s generative AI-powered shopping assistant built using Google’s Gemini models. Designed for users in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, Vaani enables voice-based product discovery and navigation in Hindi and English. Since its launch, the assistant has seen strong adoption, attracting over 1.5 million users within its first month and delivering a 22% increase in conversion rates.
To further enhance its AI-driven capabilities, Meesho has migrated its data operations to Google Cloud Dataproc and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), achieving up to 52% faster data processing. This allows the platform to deliver real-time insights, enabling predictive recommendations and improved product discovery for users while helping sellers reach relevant audiences more effectively.
“At Meesho, our technology approach has always been grounded in the realities of building for Bharat at scale… Our partnership with Google Cloud allows us to further strengthen our data and infrastructure backbone,” said Sanjeev Barnwal, Whole-time Director and Chief Technology Officer at Meesho.
The partnership also streamlines seller operations. By leveraging generative AI and machine learning, Meesho enables faster product cataloging, with automated extraction of product attributes from images. This significantly reduces onboarding time for sellers and improves listing accuracy.
In addition to performance and usability enhancements, the collaboration strengthens Meesho’s infrastructure resilience. During peak demand events, such as large-scale sales, the platform can now scale computing capacity up to three times normal levels, ensuring consistent performance even under high traffic loads.
Security and governance remain central to this transformation. By integrating Google Cloud’s Security Command Center, Meesho gains centralized visibility and automated threat detection, enhancing data protection and platform integrity for millions of users and sellers.
Google Cloud highlighted that the partnership reflects a broader shift toward AI-powered, agent-driven commerce, enabling more intuitive and intelligent shopping experiences. With this collaboration, Meesho is reinforcing its position as a technology-driven marketplace, bridging the digital divide and empowering small businesses across India.
