IESA to SPEED UP Make in India agenda

To set up 5 start up incubation centers; To speed up the startup environment in the electronics space through supporting start up landscape and talent development

India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA), the premier trade body representing the Indian Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) industry, today made a series of announcements with an objective to SPEED UP “Make in India” agenda by promoting design-led manufacturing in the Indian ESDM landscape.

IESA is playing a significant role in establishing strong relations with ESDM companies of many countries through signing MoUs with the electronics trade bodies. The association has already signed MoU with Taipei Computer Association (TCA ) of Taiwan, India Business Support Center (IBSC) of Japan to be signed soon and initiated talks with Singapore, USA and Israel counterparts. The Indian Industry and DeitY delegation, coordinated by IESA, to Japan is expected to happen during the last week of October and IESA led visit to Taiwan is scheduled in December.

The association has set up International Investment Promotion Cell, to support Government of India’s “Make in India” notion, for encouraging international investments and commitments in the ESDM landscape in the country.
“The investment promotion initiative of IESA will support Government of India’s vision to position India as the next manufacturing destination. While it is evident that the bigger companies will make entries into the Indian manufacturing space, it is the small and medium sized companies from Japan Taiwan, Singapore and other countries that has potential to join hands with Indian counterparts to make the broader impact.” said Mr. Ashok Chandak, Chairman , IESA
Partnering DeitY and contribution to M-SIPs’ success

IESA is closely working with government, DeitY and industry to make India a default destination for electronics design-led manufacturing which can catalyse the economic growth of the country through electronic manufacturing clusters, MSIP’s policy, Skill Development initiatives and participation in various working groups in the ESDM space. IESA has been instrumental in making M-SIPs, an initiative by DeitY to promote large-scale manufacturing, offset disability and attract domestic and global investments into the ESDM space, a successful step towards transforming ‘Make in India’ into a reality. More than 40% of the proposals approved/advanced stage of approval under M-SIPs are from IESA member companies, in addition to INR 60000 crores proposal received for two semiconductor fabs. Beyond the two wafer fabs, IESA is also expected to garner more than INR 10000 crore of investment proposals in the near future.

“We would like to commend the Union Government and Honorable Prime Minister for his vision to transform India as a manufacturing nation having taken several decisions towards “Make in India” program and now it is for the industry to rise to the occasion. IESA is unveiling the SPEED UP initiative to enable the success of this program in ESDM sector through SPEEDing UP of the Investment promotions, International Alliances, Start Up ecosystem, Policy Implementation at state level and Skill development actions,” added Mr.Chandak.
