In a strategic move to strengthen its presence in one of the fastest-growing technology markets, AMD has appointed industry veteran Vinay Awasthi as Senior Vice President, Sales for Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ). Based in Singapore, Awasthi will oversee regional sales strategy and execution, driving growth across cloud, enterprise, AI, commercial, and consumer segments.
The appointment comes at a time when demand for high-performance and AI computing is accelerating rapidly across APJ. Enterprises, governments, and digital-first businesses in the region are increasingly investing in advanced compute infrastructure to support AI workloads, cloud adoption, and next-generation applications. AMD’s decision to bring in a seasoned leader underscores its commitment to capitalizing on these opportunities and expanding its regional footprint.
Awasthi steps into the role with more than two decades of global experience in technology sales and leadership. Most recently, he served as Senior Vice President and Global Head of Compute Sales at Qualcomm, where he played a key role in driving global revenue growth and strengthening customer partnerships. Prior to Qualcomm, he spent over 21 years at HP, holding several senior leadership roles across both regional and global operations, building deep expertise in managing complex international markets.
“AMD’s broad portfolio of computing and AI solutions creates significant opportunities across the region, and I look forward to strengthening collaboration to accelerate innovation and growth across APJ.”

In his new role, Awasthi will focus on strengthening relationships with customers and ecosystem partners, including OEMs and channel networks, while aligning go-to-market strategies across the region’s diverse and dynamic markets. His mandate also includes ensuring that AMD’s expanding portfolio of AI-optimized CPUs, GPUs, and computing platforms is effectively positioned to meet evolving customer demands.
AMD leadership expressed confidence in Awasthi’s ability to drive impact. Darren Grasby, Executive Vice President and Chief Sales Officer at AMD, highlighted his strong track record and customer-centric approach as key assets that will support the company’s growth ambitions in APJ.
The appointment signals AMD’s continued investment in the region as it competes to capture growing demand for accelerated computing and AI infrastructure. With businesses increasingly relying on scalable, high-performance systems, AMD is positioning itself as a key partner for organizations navigating digital transformation at scale.
As the APJ market continues to expand, Awasthi’s leadership is expected to play a crucial role in driving execution, deepening partnerships, and unlocking new growth opportunities for AMD in the era of AI-driven computing.
