Whatfix has released findings from a Forrester Consulting–commissioned study highlighting the growing financial and operational risks of poor digital adoption, as enterprises accelerate investments in AI and enterprise software.
The study reveals that a mid-sized enterprise with around 1,000 employees could lose up to $10.9 million annually due to ineffective adoption of digital tools. The findings are based on a global survey of 335 senior decision-makers across North America, Europe, APAC, and India, with the majority representing organizations generating over $1 billion in annual revenue.
One of the key insights points to a significant productivity gap, with employees losing up to 728 hours annually navigating complex or poorly adopted digital systems. Despite 76% of enterprise leaders prioritizing AI adoption, only 27% consider digital adoption a critical enabler highlighting a disconnect between technology investments and real-world outcomes.
“Digital adoption maturity is now the difference between AI ambition and real business outcomes.”
— Khadim Batti, CEO & Co-founder, Whatfix
The study underscores the rising importance of Digital Adoption Platforms (DAPs) in bridging this gap. Organizations with higher DAP maturity significantly outperform peers in key areas such as user experience and return on investment, demonstrating the value of embedding guidance, governance, and workflow intelligence directly into enterprise systems.
According to Khadim Batti, enterprises are rapidly adopting AI, but struggle to operationalize it within workflows. He emphasized that without structured adoption frameworks, AI investments risk failing to deliver measurable impact.
Customer perspectives further reinforce this trend. Satyen Shah highlighted how AI-driven contextual support within enterprise systems is helping improve user experience and operational efficiency, particularly across complex platforms like Salesforce.
Building on strong momentum in 2025, Whatfix reported 31% year-over-year revenue growth and continued expansion of its AI-first product suite. Its platform now integrates capabilities such as AI agents, real-time analytics, and simulation-based training to accelerate enterprise transformation.
As organizations scale AI adoption, Whatfix is positioning its platform as a critical orchestration layer ensuring that digital investments translate into measurable productivity gains, improved user experience, and tangible business outcomes.
