TrafficGuard Appoints Scott Thomson as Head of AI to Accelerate Next‑Generation Fraud Prevention and Platform Innovation

TrafficGuard, a global leader in AI‑powered digital ad verification and invalid traffic (IVT) prevention, has appointed Scott Thomson as its new Head of AI, marking a significant step in the company’s mission to fortify brands against increasingly sophisticated ad fraud threats. Thomson, who brings over a decade of expertise from Google, Adobe, Telstra, and his strategic advisory firm SCRYPTID, will lead the company’s AI strategy and the next evolution of its fraud‑prevention capabilities.

TrafficGuard was one of the earliest ad‑verification platforms to operationalise machine learning for real‑time fraud detection, analysing billions of data points to identify anomalies invisible to traditional rule‑based systems. With the digital advertising ecosystem undergoing its most transformative shift in years, the company’s AI foundation is now central to combating rapidly advancing fraud techniques.

As Head of AI, Thomson will spearhead the expansion of TrafficGuard’s detection engine, developing new models capable of monitoring, analysing, and responding to emerging forms of invalid traffic. This includes defending against the rise of agentic AI bots—autonomous systems capable of mimicking human behaviour across clicks, forms, browsing patterns, and engagement signals. These bots represent a new frontier in fraud, designed to evade legacy verification systems and drain digital ad budgets at scale.

Thomson, who previously served as a non‑executive director at the company, said he is eager to help build the next generation of AI‑native ad‑protection technology. “TrafficGuard has a strong foundation in machine‑learning driven detection, and I’m here to accelerate what’s next,” he said. “This is about evolving our platform beyond fraud prevention into intelligent optimization helping advertisers not just protect their spend, but improve performance through actionable insight.”

The appointment supports TrafficGuard’s global growth strategy, following recent U.S. expansion and the hiring of Chief Product Officer Miguel Lopes.
