Pete Harteveld Takes Helm at Exabeam Amid Record Growth

Leadership transition marks new chapter in AI-driven security operations

In a move that signals continuity and ambition, Exabeam has appointed Pete Harteveld as Chief Executive Officer, succeeding Chris O’Malley, who announced his retirement after three years at the helm and over three decades of executive leadership.

The transition comes as Exabeam rides a wave of strong financial performance, with double-digit bookings growth quarter-over-quarter and year-over-year. Harteveld, formerly Chief Revenue Officer, steps into the role with more than 20 years of experience scaling global teams and driving revenue across cybersecurity and technology sectors.

“The business has the wind beneath its wings.”

— Chris O’Malley, outgoing CEO

“Thanks to Chris’ leadership and the dedication of our employees worldwide, the company is operating from a position of incredible strength,” Harteveld said. “I look forward to building on that foundation, driving continued growth, and ensuring we deliver unmatched value to our customers and partners.”

O’Malley, who will remain engaged through Q4 to support the transition, expressed confidence in the timing and leadership choice. “The business has the wind beneath its wings, and I know Pete is the right leader to guide Exabeam into its next chapter,” he said.

The leadership change follows a transformative year for Exabeam. In July 2024, the company merged with LogRhythm, creating a powerhouse in AI-driven security operations. With over 400 AI innovations delivered in the past year—including Exabeam Nova and insider threat detection for AI agents with Google Cloud—the company has solidified its position as a market leader in SIEM and UEBA solutions.

Exabeam’s latest product announcement, its 14th consecutive quarterly release, continues to empower security leaders with tools to justify investments and demonstrate SOC value. As Harteveld takes the reins, the company enters a new era focused on proactive, outcomes-driven security.

With momentum on its side and a clear strategic vision, Exabeam’s leadership transition sets the stage for continued innovation and global impact in cybersecurity.
