Mandate covers 271.97 km Luni–Samdari–Bhildi corridor with high-precision UAV tracking over 30 months
Matrix Geo Solutions Limited has secured a contract from North Western Railway to deliver drone-led monitoring for the Luni–Samdari–Bhildi double line railway project.
The project spans 271.97 km and will be executed over 30 months, leveraging advanced unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems for aerial videography and data-driven progress tracking. The contract marks a significant addition to Matrix Geo’s growing portfolio in railway infrastructure monitoring.
As infrastructure projects increase in scale and complexity, real-time visibility and accurate data have become critical. Under this mandate, Matrix Geo will deploy drones equipped with high-resolution cameras and sensors to capture 4K geo-tagged video data on a monthly basis. Each frame will be mapped with GPS metadata, enabling detailed monitoring and analysis.
“Corridors of this scale require continuous oversight and precise data to keep execution on track.”
— Amit Sharma, Whole Time Director, Matrix Geo Solutions
The captured data will be processed to track construction progress and identify deviations across key stages such as earthwork, ballast laying, rail installation, bridge construction, and associated infrastructure development. This approach is expected to enhance coordination among stakeholders, improve transparency, and support faster decision-making.
Drone-led monitoring is also projected to deliver operational efficiencies, including a reduction of up to 50% in physical site visits by senior officials and a 25% decrease in reporting turnaround times. Real-time aerial insights will further improve visibility across critical project locations.
Speaking on the development, Amit Sharma said the project reflects the increasing adoption of technology-driven monitoring in large-scale infrastructure initiatives and reinforces the company’s capability to deliver precision-led solutions.
With over 25 years of experience across global markets including the United States, Europe, Africa, and Asia, Matrix Geo Solutions brings expertise in geospatial intelligence, satellite imagery, drone surveys, GIS, and remote sensing.
The contract underscores the growing role of drone-based solutions in transforming infrastructure execution, particularly in large, multi-kilometre railway projects where accuracy and timeliness are essential.
