The tripartite MoU focuses on cybersecurity, digital forensics, and national security R&D to build a robust defense innovation ecosystem
In a landmark move to bolster India’s national security capabilities, L&T Technology Services (LTTS) has partnered with the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani and the Center for Research and Excellence in National Security (CRENS). The alliance is aimed at advancing research, skill development, and innovation in cybersecurity, public safety, and emerging technologies critical to safeguarding national interests.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the BITS Pilani Hyderabad campus by Mr. Ramakrishna JVS, Global Head at LTTS, and Prof. Soumyo Mukherji, Director of BITS Pilani Hyderabad, in the presence of Mr. M Rama Manohara Babu, Head of CRENS, and Prof. Sanket Goel, Dean (Research & Innovation), BITS Pilani.
The collaboration will leverage LTTS’s engineering and AI expertise, BITS Pilani’s academic excellence, and CRENS’s deep engagement with defense and law enforcement stakeholders. The goal is to co-create solutions that secure critical infrastructure, enhance perimeter defense, and respond to evolving cyber threats.
“This partnership brings together India’s finest minds in engineering, academia, and defense to co-create the future of national security.”

CRENS, established at BITS Pilani Hyderabad, will serve as the nerve center for this initiative—bringing together former armed forces personnel, DRDO veterans, academic researchers, and technology experts. Key focus areas include advanced perimeter security, digital forensics, AI-driven surveillance systems, and national cybersecurity policy advisory.
LTTS brings significant credentials to the partnership, having deployed over 25 smart and safe city command centers, built 100+ engineering labs, and launched its Fusion™ Integrated Operations Center for public safety and cyber threat management.
“Our collaboration reflects a unified mission to reinforce India’s national security and public safety infrastructure,” said Abhishek Sinha, Executive Director and President – Medical, Smart World & Functions, L&T Technology Services. “By integrating LTTS’s engineering precision with the academic depth of BITS Pilani and the real-world perspective of CRENS, we are laying the groundwork for next-generation solutions that protect our nation’s digital frontiers.”
The partnership will also facilitate joint R&D, skill development programs for cybersecurity professionals, startup incubation, and thought leadership platforms to address national and global security challenges.
