APAC Developers Lead the World in AI-Driven API Innovation: Postman Report

APAC Developers

Asia-Pacific outpaces other regions in AI adoption, security, and governance—giving it a decisive edge in building intelligent digital systems.

Developers across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region are taking a global lead in AI adoption, performance, and API governance, according to the Postman 2025 State of the API Report. The study, based on responses from over 5,700 developers and engineering leaders worldwide, highlights how APAC is outpacing other regions in operationalising AI securely and efficiently.

While 89% of global developers are already using AI tools, 35% of APAC developers are designing APIs for AI agents, compared with just 22% globally. This positions the region as a frontrunner in building scalable, intelligent systems that can power next-generation business models.

“APIs are the connective tissue of AI. They need to be scalable and reliable for AI agents to function securely,” said Jordan Walsh, Solutions Engineering Lead, Postman APAC. “By recognising the central role of APIs in AI strategy, APAC businesses are building stronger foundations for AI adoption compared to other regions.”

The report also finds that security and speed are defining strengths for APAC developers. Nearly 44% call API security reviews very important, compared to 32% globally, while 36% conduct daily security checks—almost double the global average. Moreover, APAC teams are 26% more likely to say APIs help them ship products faster, and twice as likely to launch 50+ APIs annually.

Performance remains a top priority, with 69% of APAC developers citing API speed and reliability as critical—far ahead of the 54% global average. This focus on speed and efficiency is helping the region’s companies drive stronger productivity and customer experience outcomes.

APAC also leads in governance maturity, being 1.6 times more likely to follow an API-first approach and 1.4 times more likely to use internal governance tools.

Overall, Postman’s findings show that APAC developers are not just building faster—they’re building smarter, creating the foundations for AI-powered innovation that could redefine how digital ecosystems evolve globally.
