Anant Raj’s ₹4,500-Crore Data Centre Bet Signals Andhra Pradesh’s Big Digital Ambition

The infrastructure developer deepens its national data centre footprint as AP positions itself as India’s next cloud and compute hub.

Anant Raj Limited has taken a decisive step toward expanding India’s digital infrastructure footprint by signing an MoU with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) to build new data centre facilities and an IT Park in the state. The commitment—an investment of approximately ₹4,500 crore—marks one of the largest private digital infrastructure projects announced in Andhra Pradesh in recent years.

The agreement, formalised in the presence of Shri Nara Lokesh, Minister for Information Technology, Electronics & Communications, underscores the state government’s intent to fast-track high-value digital investment and strengthen its cloud ecosystem. The planned development will be executed in two phases and is designed to support both hyperscale and enterprise workloads.

For Anant Raj Cloud Private Limited (ARCPL), the wholly owned subsidiary leading the project, the expansion is another milestone in its aggressive data centre roadmap. The company already has 307 MW of capacity under development across Manesar, Panchkula, and Rai, backed by a capex plan of $2.1 billion. The Andhra Pradesh announcement pushes the company’s ambitions further into South India—an increasingly strategic geography due to subsea cable landings, power availability, and enterprise demand.

The project is expected to generate significant employment—around 8,500 direct and 7,500 indirect jobs—strengthening local tech talent pipelines while amplifying the state’s competitiveness as an IT and cloud destination. APEDB will facilitate approvals and coordination with various government bodies to ensure timely execution.

Anant Raj currently operates 28 MW of IT load across its existing campuses and aims to scale this to 117 MW by FY28. The company has also been expanding its cloud services partnerships; in June 2024, it tied up with Orange Business to deliver managed cloud offerings in India.

With nearly 320 acres of debt-free land bank in NCR and a legacy of developing nearly 10 million sq. ft. of commercial and residential assets, Anant Raj is positioning itself as a long-term digital infrastructure player. The Andhra Pradesh expansion reinforces both the company’s growth trajectory and the state’s ambition to emerge as a national hub for data, cloud, and next-generation IT services.
