Akamai Technologies has announced the launch of App & API Protector Hybrid, a new offering that expands the web application firewall (WAF) capabilities of its Web Application and API Protection (WAAP) suite. Designed for hybrid environments, the solution aims to provide consistent protection for applications and APIs across multicloud, on-premises, and CDN-agnostic setups.

The new offering enables organisations to standardise security policies across environments, reduce operational overhead, and accelerate cloud transformation without compromising security.

“Akamai App & API Protector Hybrid gives our customers the ability to protect their applications in any environment without compromising on security,” said Rupesh Chokshi, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Application Security, Akamai. “As customer environments become more distributed, the need for consistent protection across infrastructures has never been greater.”

App & API Protector Hybrid is engineered to defend applications, microservices, and workloads against sophisticated threats while simplifying security management and scaling with business needs.
