Airtel-Skylark to deliver centimetre-level accuracy for mission-critical applications across industries

Airtel Business has announced a strategic partnership with Swift Navigation, a leader in precise positioning technology, to launch India’s first AI/ML-powered, cloud-based location service—the Airtel-Skylark™ Precise Positioning Service. The service will improve accuracy by up to 100x compared to standard GNSS systems, enabling a new generation of mission-critical applications across industries.

The collaboration brings together Swift Navigation’s Skylark platform and Airtel’s pan-India 4G/5G network to deliver centimetre-level accuracy, scalable for large deployments. The initial rollout will cover 35,000 km² across the National Capital Region (NCR) later this year, with expansion planned across India in subsequent phases.

“Every centimetre makes a difference in identifying a precise location or address, especially for critical services like first responders.”

– Sharat Sinha, Director & CEO, Airtel Business

The solution is expected to transform several sectors, from emergency response and digital mapping to autonomous vehicles, fleet management, agriculture, and railways. For example, tolling systems can move towards barrier-free satellite-based toll collection, while agriculture can leverage exact positioning for automated tractors, seeders, and sprayers, optimizing water and pesticide use.

“In a country like ours, with intricate lanes and by-lanes, every centimetre makes a difference in identifying a precise location or address, especially for critical services like first responders,” said Sharat Sinha, Director & CEO, Airtel Business. “By partnering with Swift Navigation, we are proud to launch India’s first cloud-based, AI/ML-powered GNSS corrections service. This breakthrough will revolutionise emergency responses, industrial applications, and accelerate innovation in autonomous mobility.”

Holger Ippach, EVP of Product & Marketing, Swift Navigation, added: “We are thrilled to partner with Airtel to bring Skylark to India. By leveraging Airtel’s IoT presence, businesses and developers can now seamlessly adopt precise positioning for automation and autonomy.”

Visitors will be able to experience the technology live at the Airtel booth during the India Mobile Congress, October 8–11, 2025. With this launch, Airtel Business positions itself at the forefront of India’s spatial precision market, offering solutions that drive both public services and industrial innovation.
