Sivakumar Thiyagarajan joins as Senior Vice President, Engineering & Technology to drive engineering discipline, product quality and practical AI innovation
Vembu Technologies has appointed Sivakumar Thiyagarajan as Senior Vice President, Engineering & Technology, strengthening its technology leadership as the company expands its product portfolio across India and global markets.
Sivakumar will lead engineering and technology strategy with a mandate spanning development processes, product reliability, delivery discipline and AI-led innovation. The appointment signals Vembu’s focus on building a stronger engineering foundation as backup, disaster recovery and cybersecurity products increasingly incorporate AI capabilities.
With more than two decades of experience, Sivakumar has worked across enterprise software, telecommunications, embedded systems and computational engineering. His career includes nearly a decade at Motorola Mobility in San Diego, where he worked with global engineering and product teams on more than 20 commercial devices, as well as experience at Ericsson.
“Sivakumar brings a rare mix of deep engineering craft and the ability to lead large, complex product organisations. His experience will help us raise our bar on process, quality and innovation,” said Sekar Vembu, Founder and CEO, Vembu Technologies.
His entrepreneurial experience also includes founding Cuedio Technologies and developing a WebRTC-based remote-assistance platform from concept to deployment. He holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from IIT Madras.
For Vembu, the appointment comes at a time when software companies are under pressure to deliver AI capabilities without compromising reliability, security or user experience. Sivakumar’s mandate therefore goes beyond adding AI features; it places engineering processes and product quality at the centre of the company’s next growth phase.
Sivakumar said his priorities will include “strong engineering processes, uncompromising quality, and practical AI-led innovation,” while keeping customer needs central to product decisions.
The move positions Vembu to pursue a more AI-native product roadmap while strengthening the engineering practices required to compete in increasingly demanding global software markets.
