Latest TOP500 rankings highlight AMD’s growing influence across high-performance computing, AI innovation, and energy-efficient supercomputing.

AMD has reinforced its position in the global high-performance computing (HPC) landscape, with its technologies now powering four of the world’s ten most powerful supercomputers, according to the latest TOP500 and Green500 rankings. The company’s footprint has expanded to 191 systems on the TOP500 list, representing an 11% year-over-year increase.

Among the leading systems powered by AMD are El Capitan (Ranked No. 2), Frontier (No. 3), and the newly deployed HPC7 (No. 6), all leveraging AMD EPYC processors and AMD Instinct accelerators to support large-scale scientific simulations, AI workloads, energy research, and industrial innovation.

“The latest TOP500 rankings demonstrate how high-performance computing is increasingly converging with AI, with AMD-powered systems enabling breakthrough research, scientific discovery, and next-generation AI workloads at exascale scale.”

The company also demonstrated strong sustainability credentials, with four AMD-powered systems featured among the world’s ten most energy-efficient supercomputers in the Green500 rankings.

The latest rankings arrive amid intensified global competition in supercomputing and AI infrastructure, with exascale computing increasingly becoming the foundation for advanced research in climate science, healthcare, energy, quantum computing, and artificial intelligence. AMD’s continued presence in both performance and efficiency rankings underscores the growing role of its processor and accelerator technologies in enabling next-generation computing platforms worldwide.

AMD said its HPC and AI ecosystem continues to support organizations seeking faster scientific discovery, accelerated AI development, and more energy-efficient computing infrastructure as demand for large-scale compute resources continues to rise globally.
