Gigawatt-scale AI ecosystem to power ‘Viksit Bharat’ vision with strategic partners AdaniConneX and Nxtra by Airtel
Google has officially broken ground on its largest digital infrastructure investment in India a landmark AI hub in Visakhapatnam marking a major step in building a national AI ecosystem aligned with the country’s long-term digital ambitions.
Developed in partnership with AdaniConneX and Nxtra by Airtel, the project is part of a broader $15 billion investment plan over five years (2026–2030). The initiative will establish India’s first gigawatt-scale AI hub, comprising three data center campuses designed to power next-generation AI workloads at scale.
The Vizag AI hub will anchor a wider industrial and digital ecosystem, combining high-performance data infrastructure with expanded fiber connectivity under the America-India Connect initiative and a strong push toward clean energy adoption. The project aligns closely with India’s goal of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030.

Senior government leaders, including Ashwini Vaishnaw and N. Chandrababu Naidu, joined industry stakeholders at the groundbreaking ceremony, highlighting the project’s strategic importance in positioning India as a global technology leader.
The AI hub is expected to deliver high-performance, low-latency infrastructure critical for enterprises, startups, and research institutions to build and scale AI-driven applications. It will also support advanced workloads across industries, from digital services to scientific research.
Beyond infrastructure, the initiative includes a strong focus on community development and workforce readiness. Programs aimed at digital literacy, AI skilling, women entrepreneurship, and maritime modernization are being rolled out in partnership with local organizations, ensuring inclusive growth alongside technological advancement.
Additionally, the launch was accompanied by the Bharat AI Shakti Conclave, a first-of-its-kind platform bringing together ecosystem players to accelerate the development of an AI-driven industrial corridor in the region.
With this investment, Google is not only expanding its infrastructure footprint but also catalyzing a broader transformation—building a scalable, sustainable, and inclusive AI ecosystem that positions India at the forefront of the global AI economy.
