Microsoft, MARVEL, and CyberEye unveil a new AI-driven policing platform now live across Nagpur, with plans to scale to all 1,100 police stations.
Maharashtra has taken a historic step in AI-led law enforcement with the launch of MahaCrimeOS AI, a next-generation cybercrime investigation platform built on Microsoft Azure OpenAI Service. The solution—developed jointly by CyberEye, the government’s special-purpose vehicle MARVEL, and the Microsoft India Development Center (IDC)—was announced by Satya Nadella, Chairman and CEO, Microsoft, during the Microsoft AI Tour in Mumbai.
Already operational across 23 Nagpur police stations, MahaCrimeOS AI is designed to help officers resolve cybercrime cases faster and more efficiently, using AI copilots, automated workflows, multilingual data extraction, and contextual legal intelligence. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who endorsed the platform, has proposed its expansion to all 1,100 police stations across the state.
“AI is redefining public safety, empowering every officer to investigate faster, smarter, and more securely.”
— Puneet Chandok, President, Microsoft India & South Asia
India’s cybercrime landscape has intensified sharply, with over 3.6 million incidents reported in 2024, according to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal. MahaCrimeOS AI arrives at a pivotal moment, offering police forces a scalable and standardized framework to accelerate digital investigations and strengthen citizen protection.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis highlighted the state’s vision for responsible AI-led governance:
“Ethical and responsible AI for public good is our core motto… Our collaboration with Microsoft began with solving complex cybercrime challenges, but its potential is far greater.”
AI as the New Policing Copilot
Built on Microsoft Foundry and Azure’s secure cloud architecture, the platform provides:
- Instant case registration
- Multilingual document and data extraction
- Automated evidence analysis
- Contextual legal assistance
- Case linking and intelligence mapping
- Standardized, AI-powered investigation workflows
This synergy enables officers to focus on complex threats while AI handles repetitive, time-consuming tasks.
Engineered in India for India’s Digital Safety
Teams at Microsoft IDC, CyberEye, and MARVEL collaborated to ensure real-world relevance, compliance, and ease of adoption.
Harssh Poddar, SP Nagpur Rural and CEO of MARVEL, said:
“MahaCrimeOS AI is redefining how we fight cybercrime—turning complexity into clarity and speed.”
Ram Ganesh, Founder and CEO, CyberEye, added:
“We are empowering officers even in remote regions to solve complex cybercrime cases with confidence.”
A National Blueprint for the Future
As Maharashtra prepares for statewide deployment, MahaCrimeOS AI is poised to set a new benchmark for India’s digital safety framework—pioneering AI-enabled policing that is fast, trusted, and scalable nationwide.
