Engineered for mission-critical environments, the new platform brings unprecedented scalability, 24/7 resiliency and real-time energy intelligence to modern enterprises.

Johnson Controls has unveiled Metasys 15.0, a major upgrade to its flagship open building automation system, expanding its capabilities to meet the rising demands of healthcare systems, data centers, large campuses and multi-site enterprises. Designed to optimise performance, ensure compliance and accelerate decarbonisation, the new release dramatically enhances scalability, resiliency and energy intelligence—three pillars increasingly vital to modern facility operations.

Metasys 15.0 supports up to 1,000 IP devices per server, marking a significant 60% increase over comparable systems and enabling organisations to scale across large, complex environments without the burden of costly hardware expansions. By enabling direct IP device-to-server communication, infrastructure costs can be reduced by as much as 60%, positioning the platform as one of the most efficient BAS solutions in the sector.

“This release redefines reliability, scalability and energy intelligence for the world’s most demanding buildings.” — Kaishi Zhang, Johnson Controls

According to Kaishi Zhang, vice president of Product Management for Building Automation Systems at Johnson Controls, the platform arrives at a time when operators face new operational pressures. She noted that facility teams must now balance energy goals, operational continuity and evolving skill gaps—all while ensuring uptime in mission-critical settings. Metasys 15.0, she said, gives them the secure, intuitive and reliable foundation required to meet those challenges head-on.

A defining feature of the upgrade is its multi-server redundancy, ensuring that audit logs, alerts and trend data are continuously backed up across two servers. This dual-server approach strengthens business continuity, particularly in sectors such as healthcare and data processing where real-time resilience is non-negotiable.

Equally transformative is the Energy Management suite, a ready-to-use set of applications offering instant insights for energy tracking, benchmarking and budgeting. It equips facility managers with actionable intelligence to improve planning, compliance and sustainability outcomes.

Built as an open BAS platform, Metasys 15.0 maintains robust interoperability with protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, MQTT and API frameworks. As part of Johnson Controls’ broader OpenBlue ecosystem, the new system reinforces the company’s mission to deliver healthier, smarter and more sustainable buildings worldwide.
