PCCW Global and Huawei Open HD Video Communications Centre

Showcases a full range of the latest innovative HD calling, conferencing, and collaboration solutions

PCCW Global, the Hong Kong-headquartered international operating division of HKT, Hong Kong’s telecommunications service provider, and Huawei have launched their new Global High Definition Video Communications Centre in Hong Kong.

This leading edge facility, located at Telecom House in Wanchai, Hong Kong, showcases a full range of the latest innovative HD calling, conferencing, and collaboration solutions, available on multiple devices including telepresence rooms, conferencing terminals, tablets, and smartphones.

PCCW Global is one of the first service providers globally to offer a point-to-point cross-private network video calling service that makes communicating in HD as familiar and easy to use as making a traditional voice call. An employee can simply dial the number of another video user either within or outside their own organization, locally or abroad, and connect in HD with no need for a pre-set time or conference bridge to be arranged.

The cloud-based High Definition Video Communications (HDVC) platform, jointly built by PCCW Global and Huawei, offers service providers and multinational enterprises cost-effective deployment of high quality video collaboration services that have the power to transform business communications, providing an extremely rich, real-time face-to-face experience.

Marc Halbfinger, CO, PCCW Global, said, “Huawei has been an important technology and business partner for us. We are excited to explore new innovations in the video collaboration field together and to help our customers cost-effectively maximize the impact of HD video.”

Mao Yumin, VP for Huawei Core Network Product Line, said, “The opening of the Global High Definition Video Communications Center is a key milestone for all carriers and enterprises to leverage on the opportunities offered by HDVC with a global reach, whatever the device and whatever the access. Huawei is extremely honored to partner with PCCW Global on this project.”
