BICSI Facilitates ICT Awareness through Conference ’16

Enables exchange of industry relevant information between domestic ICT players, highlighting the changing trends and best practices moving forward

BICSI organized the BICSI 2016 conference which brought together representatives from different areas of the Indian ICT Industry under one roof. The conference was marked by words from eminent speakers on best practices in ICT with regard to India. The attendees gathered exchanged information about the different aspects of ICT like installation, skill enhancement, and methodologies. The conference also witnessed opinions from different player based on their experiences and expertise.

With the advent of newer cabling technologies it is important for installers to expand their knowledge of the industry and learn new skills. BICSI puts up standards that define current practices and drive improvement in quality and system performance over the spectrum of voice, data, electronic safety & security and audio & video technologies, and encompass optical, fiber, copper and wireless-based distribution systems.

According to the press release, some of the key points discussed included the for inclusion of appropriate standards that are in line with global standards in the new National building code, something that BICSI has been in discussions with Bureau of Indian Standards and Telecom Engineering Center for some time. Based on the discussions, a new “Section 6” ‘Information and Communication Enabled Installations’ Under Part 8 ‘Building Services’ of NBC was created and BICSI India was invited to be part of the panel working on this to collaborate and create a working draft for this section.

BICSI also recently signed a MOU with TSSC (Telecom sector skill council) to foster the growth and advancement of the ICT industry through collaboration and information sharing on education and training, credential & certification and standards development.

BICSI is focussing on training courses like RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) and credentials for ICT professionals working in the OSI physical and data link layers. These training initiatives allow installation, design training providers and ICT solution providers to work together, towards their shared goal to provide world-class technology solutions to the ICT industry.

The training is an intensive hands-on course, focused on the design of structured cabling systems and includes design of telecommunications spaces as well as horizontal and backbone distribution systems.
As per BICSI, technology is changing rapidly and ICT professionals must adapt and must be fluid enough to change. BICSI commented that it hoped the result of this conference will awaken ICT professionals to a series of possibilities never considered before, the release said.
