India’s Optical Transport Networks market to grow big time in next 5 years

‘The Optical Transport Networks market in India is set to demonstrate a high growth in next 5 years’- Indian Telecom professionals

The Optical Transport Networks market in India is set to demonstrate a high growth in next 5 years.  This was the view of Indian telecom professionals at the 3rd Future Generation-Optical Transport Networks Summit 2018 in Mumbai. This conference was organized by Nexgen Conferences, one of India’s leading conferences & B2B event organizers. The conference was effectively designed to bring together key telecom industry professionals, stakeholders, thought leaders, analysts and users under one roof to participate in the highly focused discussions on optical technology development and deployment requirements.

The increased demand of bandwidth from both residential and business customers is playing a major role in shaping the future of the optical transport network market in India. The highlight of the event was the breadth and depth of its content and the exhibition area where key and niche industry players showcased their products and services giving all the participants a sound knowledge of the present and future of Optical Transport Networks in the country.

Huawei at the Summit shared that the Transmission network has an ever higher role to play in the successful introduction of new services like 5G, DCI and high capacity enterprise connectivity.

The cloudification of services and the digitalization of business is further propelling the need for the lowest latency practically possible, no congestion and deterministic performance under different network loads.

Furthermore, telecom operators are deploying transmission platforms with a keen regard for investment protection and they want to exploit the multiservice nature of the transmission network for legacy and future looking services.

Transmission networks have an important role to play in the economics of services provisioning exploiting network automation, regarding network optimization which helps reducing CAPEX and agile services provisioning to cut OPEX and increase customer experience.

Abhinav Verma, Huawei India Marketing also shared that as an industry leader in the global optical network market, Huawei optical network solutions continuously lead the rapid development of the ultra-broadband industry. Huawei has released an all-cloud network solution to embrace the future. By building an agile, smart, highly efficient, and open all-cloud network, Huawei helps operators build future networks with core commercial values and capture opportunities from digital transformation.

Speaking on the occasion, JP Sahdev, Director, Business Development, Ciena said, “OTN-based backbones and metro cores offer significant advantages over traditional WDM transponder-based networks, including increased efficiency, reliability, and wavelength–based private services. The IP-over-OTN infrastructure also offers better management and monitoring, reduced hops, increased protection of services, and reduced costs for equipment acquisition. In addition to scaling the network to 100G and beyond, OTN plays a key role in making the network an open and programmable platform, enabling transport to become as important as computing and storage in intelligent data center networking.”

Addressing the gathering, Dr. Nevin Jones, Group CTO- Wireline, ZTE Telecom said, “In light of emerging 5G, IPTV and NGN technologies, the challenge of developing network architecture and transforming the pure traditional service operation mode to deliver new services for customers, has become a prime concern for operators. The traditional transport network can no longer satisfy the requirements for development of new services meaning that the migration of transport networks to service networks is an inevitable trend. The development of new services brings unprecedented opportunities and challenges to the optical network market.”

Piyush Vairagare, Sr. Systems Engineer, Juniper Networks said, “Optical Transport Network is the way to effectively deal with data traffic loads which we are witnessing presently. We are providing optical transport aggregation solutions to address the fast growing packet optical transport markets and benefit customers from packet switching technologies and highly efficient IP and optical transport network.”

Markus Eilers, Vice President, Global Business Development, ADVA Optical Networking SE said, “ADVA Optical Networking is driving innovation in technology to bring seamless transformation from SONET or SDH to wavelength-division multiplexing. We are focusing more on working with the ICP or CNP community on metro Data Center Interconnect (DCI) with the highest security protocols.”

Major brands including Huawei, Juniper Networks, Ciena, ZTE Corporation, ADVA Optical Networking, Fastech Telecommunications, Xilinx, Livingston, COAI, Broadband India Forum, ITU- APT and NGN Forum were supporting partners of the summit.

Anjani Kumar Singh, CEO, Nexgen Conferences said, “We are delighted that the 3rd edition of future generation optical transport summit was successful in creating a highly interactive platform with quality speakers representing well-known organizations of the telecom industry where they were able to address the future of optical transport technologies. Thought leaders had a great business networking opportunity while exchanging best practices, knowledge and experiences.”
