CompTIA Brings Behavioral Analytics to Cybersecurity Certifications

Addressing Global Cyber Security challenge, CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst (CSA+) First to Incorporate In-Depth Behavioral Analytics

Cyber security is unarguably the world’s paramount IT challenge, requiring a highly trained workforce with advanced skills capable of moving beyond traditional approaches. CompTIA, the world’s leading information technology (IT) association, unveiled a groundbreaking, vendor-neutral certification, CompTIA Cyber security Analyst (CSA+), the first of its kind to bring behavioral analytics to the forefront of assessing cyber threats.

The CompTIA CSA+ certification will offer broad-spectrum validation of knowledge and skills required to configure and use cyber-threat detection tools, perform data analysis and interpret the results to identify vulnerabilities, threats and risks to an organization. It certifies knowledge of a data-driven approach to information security.

Speaking at the launch of CompTIA CSA+, Pradipto Chakrabarty, Regional Director of CompTIA India said “In an increasingly digitizedworld, we are all becoming extremely vulnerable to misuse of personal, professional and even national security data.In this scenario of data leaks and misuse, which could lead to grave financial loss, apart from loss of privacy, the emergence of a certification like CompTIA CSA+ is very important. Therefore, in collaboration with the global IT industry, CompTIA  decided to launch the Cybersecurity Analyst certification CSA+, which goes beyond just focusing on the technical side of information securityand includes using behavioral analytics too, thereby emphasizing the need for security skills even further.”

The new CSA+ certification strengthens CompTIA’s portfolio of security credentials. It bridges the skills gap between CompTIA Security+ and the CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner (CASP) exam to create a vendor-neutral cybersecurity career pathway. With this program, CompTIA has strengthened its security certification portfolio which now includes:

  • CompTIA Security+, which is the benchmark for best practices in IT security, covering essential principles for network security and risk management.
  • CompTIA Cybersecurity Analyst+ focuses on skills associated with the use of threat detection tools, data analysis and the interpretation of results to identify vulnerabilities, threats and risks.
  • CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner certifies critical thinking and judgment across a broad spectrum of security disciplines.

CompTIA CSA+ has received a Certificate of Accreditation from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), signifying that it meets ISO/IEC 17024:2012 general requirements for personnel certifications.
